My daughter has started back to work and Jonathan will be in daycare and I'll be taking care of the baby, so for awhile which will alow me to make a doll or two....starting with Sherry Goshons Trixie class doll that I started several months ago now...it involved doing trapunto for the face and I'll be able to have some time to do it....

It's been awhile since I posted. I've been babysitting Jonathan for my daughter who is working now and he is in his terrible twos and boy is he. I'd forgotton how much energy they have and how little I do LOL!!

I've also been trying to grow some flowers and vegetables: tomatoes reg. and cherry, peppers, okra, squashes, and even planted some vines Kiwi, raspberry and blackberry. I had some hybrid lilys coming up really nice but the squirrels or rabbits or both decided they were for eating....my begonias are not coming up yet but the glads are starting to show them selves...

We have a small stream that goes in front of the house and I planted some squash along the bank and they are coming up but they may be getting too much water they're looking a little on the yellow side...I've never had a very good green thumb...but I always keep trying.

Trust Me Swap

Playing with some polymer clay yesterday and came up with this idea for the inchey swap unicorn horns... I used three colors of clay mixed together champange, white and translucent. Rolled them into balls and then rolled them onto a texturing surface inserted the eyescrews and baked them lightly sanded them with 4 different grits. I used gold rub and buffed on one to see how I liked it.

I'm still learning to use my new camera so bare with me I'll get better...I didn't realize that the date and time wasn't set yet so that is wrong on there...I just took that pic this morning...

Artist Trading Dolls

She's Got Pearls!

Painted with Acrylics
She Got Her Wings!

This is a new group that takes the concept of the Artist Trading Cards, and goes a step further by making a templete and using it to make a paperdoll redition. Then we either trade as individuals or groups...

These are a few of them that I've been experimenting with. Some of them have a Paper Clay, polymer mask or just acrylic painted faces and I've used watercolor on the blond here.

They have silks, fibers, embellishments, special handmade papers, and paints to make them and are created on a cardboard backing signed and dated.

The patterns used by permission are from Sherry Goshon and the one that folds up to card size is byJudy Wellnitz!

I believe that the mold used to make this Silk Pink Flower Girl, is a Maureen Carlson angel face...that I used Watercolors to paint.

Back and Doll Show

Well by the time I got back to writing in this blog a lot of time has gone by and I'd even forgot how to get into it had to make new password and everything..
I've been sick so much that I've not been playing at making dolls but all that is about to change...
I've signed up for the spring swap and have ordered and recieved several molds from Sherry Goshon that I'm really excited about. One is the cutest waif looking fairy type...and I want to do her first.. and then the I'm going to signup for her class to make a Victorian Rabbit. Yeah I'm wanting to play again....

I'm the president of the Silver City doll club and we are getting ready to re-elect officers and that will be so great as I've held a poisition for the last 4 yrs now and am ready to rest well really to start playing...
I also belong to a group of girls that enjoy the French Bleuette doll and we have meetings once a month where we meet for lunch and do a project.
On Saturday I took my Daughter and her son to El Paso to the doll show down there and it was a good day... My grandson Jonathan is 14months...and we had him in a stroller and as we passed by a basket of Barbie's and Ken dolls I picked one up and showed it to my daughter and said he's too young for him and he burst out crying like I'd broke his heart so I bought him his first Ken doll and of course some clothes and boots...and another Ken for me...to play too! Oh and I did buy a Madame Alexander from a UFDC Tea Time lunchen..
After the show we had dinner at the Olive Gardens and here is a pic I took of Jonathan and Casie... More later.........maybe not so long this time....

My inner dragon is the true draconic magic-user. Deep down I am very wise, somewhat shy, and I have a rather short fuse. But don't worry, tans prefer to spend their time counting their enormous treasure, so pass quietly and you'll stay out of danger.Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!I decided to signup Wednesday for a couple of classes at the University here and am now enrolled in Drawing 1 and Painting 1... I'm really excited as I hope to get my Arts degree...On Thrusday morning I recieved a call from The doctors office and they are ordering another MRI this time with dye as they've found a growth on the spinal cord at L2... to say the least I'm a little concerned... but the doctors says that it's most times not cancerus... But the neurosurgen will determine if they need to remove it..The Phyiscal Therapy is helping to get the feeling back in the top of the skin on my leg...but it's still underneath the skin...feels very weird...the mri showed that at the L6 and S1 there is nearly bone on bone and that is why my back has been so bad...Thursday I also had an ear that was bleeding and went in yesterday to the doctors and he's got me on antibotic and ear drops... it stopped bleeding...Ok I'm going to try to work on the dress for Shashi's doll. And iron a shirt for Sunday for my honey!!

OK now it is Wed.. back to writing this journaling..
I've misplaced the pattern for the dolls clothes I spent "to" much time looking for it...
I'll just have to figure it out for myself.. this should be fun...so now I can be free to design LOL!
Ok yesterday I went to Amazon.com and ordered that Terry Pratchett Discworld 1...and some books on Doll Making..it will take awhile to get because I got the free shipping ...
I've been working a little at a time on getting my studio straigtened around so that it is more user friendly...so this will hopefully help! I'm so bad at starting to many projects and not getting them finished...
My Avon order arrived yesterday as I was heading out the door to relieve my dh at the store... I unpacked it last night...mostly stuff for demos and myself not many orders this campain.. need to get out and look for new customers....
Ok gotta go get some lunch fixed...probably a sandwich and fruit.. I was all happy the other day when I was able to pick a tomatoe for my sandwich and some mint for tea from my small garden that I planted in Lg pots this year...Yeah! maybe I'll repeat that... here are some of my pictures to checkout some of my dolls and Me...LOL

Got back from EDAC (Enchanted Doll Artist Convention) 2005... Had a great time seeing returning friends and new attendees...
I took Marge Gormans two day class "Sim's" and had alot of fun! He's not finished yet, but he's one that I will finish! I have a tendancy to not complete my projects after I get them to a certain point...Bad girl!!!
I also took Nancy Gawron's "Jock Watson" (Scotty) dog class and he again isn't complete but almost.. When I get these finished I'll post pics...
I tried to help out with donating two dolls (a fairy and a Bleuette) for the auctions and I also did two of the banquet chefs that were auctioned off...as well as patterns and mohair for the welcome bags...
Barbs Demo was great!
The ATC class with Judy Skeel was wonderful and I enjoyed it alot and want to do more ...
The Goodie Bag swap was alot of fun again this year... I didn't do the pin doll swap but next year I'm going to have some made in advance...LOL!!!
Right now I need to finish a Swap doll for my friend Shashi.....and have worked on it and now just have to dress and acessorize her...getting closer to finishing her...
I just finished reading the latest Harry Potter book, I had already heard who died but was still hoping there was some mistake....
Well, with the StarWars movies at an end... and the Lord of the Rings over.... I wonder what will be the next thing out to catch my imagintion..... Maybe the Brothers Grim will be fun to see.... Hopefully it won't be to long before the next HP movie is out.

EDAC and More

This is very new to me to write about what is going on in my world... First a Little about me. I'm a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister...born in 1950...
My current love is making dolls of all types...porcelain, cloth, sculpty, and paper/clay...anyway that I can...
I'm also a scrapbooker, and have found I like to do ATC's...so I will be exploring alot of different types of things..Right now I need to go fix some dinner for my honey...
